camping in the cold

last weekend we went camping in the new forest, this is the second year we have gone camping at this time of year & i imagine it will be the last, having pitched the tent in pouring rain, we spent the rest of the weekend avoiding the showers or wrapping up from the cold {i packed plenty of woollies & hot water bottles!}
little chilly
it wasn't really all that bad, the kids had a great time & so did barney, who was very well behaved on his first camping trip, we picked a nice quite pitch, in what was very big & busy camp-site, we did a lovely lovely long walk {with the reward of  pub lunch at the end} spent time with good friends & did get to see some sunshine  - so not really a washout!

  1. Oh that little face in the first pic - sort of saying 'But why Mummy??'. As much as I love camping - I really struggle when its wet. Rest of the trip looks fun though :)

  2. Ah, it actually looks lovely! We has a frog in our tent once, which we discovered shortly before we had to evacuate because of flooding...
    You'll look back on it and laugh one day

  3. I've just discovered your blog and was delighted to see the New Forest! I lived in Ringwood, just up the road from where you stayed from the age of 13 and used to practice driving all around where you stayed. Haven't been back for years but I could almost smell the bracken from your beautiful pictures! I'll be back to visit you again, hope you have warmed up and dried out!

  5. That first photo! So sad...! But it looks like you had a good time in spite of the cold... and I am impressed by your preparation skills. I do love camping, but cold and wet can put a bit of a downer on things, I admit.
